In Portugal, the taste for the Tile was assimilated by the Muslen, having been introduced in the country since middle of century XV.
In century XVI, Portugal initiates its proper production, suffering some influences from the Italian and Flamenga tiles, and later in century XVII, by the Dutch tiling.
This singular form of decoration, was used with insistence in the covering of Churches, Palaces, Monasteries, Sources and in Master Houses.
Since always, the tile followed the new aesthetic ones, passing for the reasons of New Art, to the coverings Art Déco, until its full integration in modern architectural programs.

Em Portugal, o gosto pelo azulejo foi assimilado dos muçulmanos, tendo sido introduzido no país desde meados do século XV. No século XVI,Portugal inicia sua própria produção, sofrendo várias influências das azulejarias Italiana e Flamenga, e mais tarde no século XVII, da azulejaria Holandesa.
Esta forma singular de decoração, foi utilizada com insistência no revestimento de Igrejas, Palácios, Mosteiros, Fontes e em Casas Senhoriais.
Desde sempre, o azulejo acompanhou as novas estéticas, passando pelos motivos Arte Nova, pelos revestimentos Art Déco, até à sua plena integração em modernos programas arquitectónicos

The technique used in the execution of the Traditional Tile Panels does not differ almost nothing from its origin, in century XV, therefore we call Traditional, beyond the style of the drawing with reasons of the culture and Portuguese Tradition.
A técnica utilizada na execução dos Painéis Tradicionais de Azulejo não difere quase nada da sua origem, no século XV, por isso chamamos Tradicionais, além do estilo do desenho com motivos da cultura e Tradição Portuguesa.
